Silliness at work

Post by rip » Thu May 05, 2016 11:09 pm

Making a small Ubuntu OpenStack Autopilot cloud platform as a sandbox to do some things at work, but decided to amuse myself naming them.

(Most of my machines are named after shipwrecks in alphabetical order, Invincible, for instance, was not.)

Build a fire for a man, you keep him warm that night.
Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm the rest of his life.

Hmm, that's actually pretty interesting rip, what's your job? I'm on my 3rd year as a Computer Engineering major at UCSD and your Ubuntu OpenStack Autopilot cloud platform sounds pretty interesting.

Ahhhh no.

If you watch TV, at some point it goes though us. I make and support everything you need to run a broadcast TV network, the big Industrial stuff. Clients like HBO, ESPN, Verizon, ATT, almost every network you can think of. Even CSPAN is us.

Just need a lot of VMs for test environments, have a 30 year tail of software so lots of flavors and configs.

Besides the cloud also have 3 machines of 48 cores and 128g each for VMs.

Have one 96 core with a TB of RAM but is for development (real-time HEVC encoding).
