New Build

Post by rip » Sat Feb 11, 2023 5:26 pm

Kicking around ideas for my first ALL NEW personal build in a long time. I build systems all the time, mostly servers these days, this is a dual use and not gaming rig. I do Cad/Cam/tool paths/ NURBS modeling, engineering stuff, COLMAP, etc. and my (was fast at the time) 8 core can be flattened by my workloads for a solid hour or more. So more cores and memory than is sane for a pure gaming rig. The crunching power and acre of memory is more useful to me than maximum clock speeds.

Am i missing something or you've picked an AM5 board and an Intel CPU :?

It's a place holder for unreleased 7950X3D in the same price range. It should be cheaper than this, ditto the selected SSD since no pricing out on the 5.0's yet for the most part.

Erm, maybe I use an existing pcie4 m.2 I have laying around till this calms TF down.

There is an AORUS flavored one, but it it's 20% slower than it should be, and can do without the dorktacular heatsink.

why have I not seen this post? sick and tired of everyone and their moms having the o11. It's all I see on instagram. You should might as well get the o11 dynamic evo so you can side mount your gpu.

O11 is handy because the space for radiators. Current gen HW is getting kinda nuts thermals wise

Have considered an exoskeleton type home made. I have 3d printer, CNC mill, etc. Pretty much reuse a MB tray for the slots and mounting points and build around it.
