ScorpioN's Guide to [Advanced] Counter-Strike

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Review from Basics:

General Tips:
- Wear Headphones
- Radar Type: Solid
- Solid Crosshair (small)
- Walk around with your AK/M4 at head-level at all times
- Practice 1-shot tapping on Deathmatch servers
Personal Grooming - Aside:
- Cut your nails (Makes it easier to press keys.)

AK-47 Shooting Guide

General Breakdown:
AK-47 Short-Range: [Crouch] + [Spray]
AK-47 Mid-Range: [Crouch] + [Tapping]
AK-47 Mid-Long Range: [Standing] + [Tapping]
AK-47 Long-Range: [Strafe] + [2-shot bursts]

** Note: Recently I have been testing Mid-Range Tapping with the AK in Deathmatch and it is highly effective!!

AK-47 Short-Range: [Crouch] + [Spray]
If the enemy is at short range, immediately [Crouch], drag your mouse down, and spray at the enemy's mid-section. Follow the bullets with your eyes for shot-placement.
Advanced: Since the natural spray pattern of the AK is Up - Right - Left. To have a compensated spray you must drag your mouse in the mirror direction: Down - Left - Right (followed by Left-Right-Left-Right rapidly from side to side.) Again, follow the bullets with your eyes for shot-placement.

AK-47 Mid-Range: [Crouch] + [Tapping]
If the enemy is at mid-range, immediately [Crouch], aim for your enemy (generally his body, doesn't have to be his head but that would be ideal), and "Tap" your left-mouse button rapidly for 1-shot bursts. While tapping, be sure to watch the crosshair of your AK and make sure it settles enough on the recoil to actually land the shot. Also, be sure not to tap too rapidly! You'll find the right rhythm with practice. =]
Advanced: I usually tap 6 one-shot bursts in succession. Tapping 6 shots hitting anywhere on the enemy is usually enough to kill them.

AK-47 Mid-Long Range: [Standing] + [Tapping]
Same concept as Mid-Range AK shooting, except under certain circumstances it is unwise to crouch. You'll have to be the judge of the situation. Tapping while Standing gives the option for mobility to transition into the AK Long-Range [Strafe] + [2-shot bursts] if necessary.

AK-47 Long-Range: [Strafe] + [2-shot bursts]
Execution of Strafe-Shoot: Initially shoot a 2-round burst (aimed at head), then walk left [A] for 2 steps, then stop immediately with the opposite direction key [D, in this case.] Shoot a 2-round burst from your AK/M4 again. Rinse and repeat, strafing right first this time and stopping immediately.
- On your keyboard it will be as follows: Burst, [A] for 2 steps, then immediately stop with [D], pause for Burst, [D] for 2 steps, then immediately stop with [A], then pause to Burst again.
** This technique is best practiced on an Aim map such as, aim_ak-colt
- Strafing left and right between 2-shot bursts merely allows you not to be a "sitting duck" while waiting for your AK/M4 to settle down from recoil.

ScorpioN's Guide to [Advanced] Counter-Strike

Introduction:
Besides knowing how to control recoil of the AK/M4, seasoned Counter-Strike players stand apart in their knowledge of the technique known as "Slicing The Pie."
It is a military technique for effective cornering that blends seamlessly into the virtual physics and angles of Counter-Strike 1.6.

Image

Slicing The Pie - Basic Steps:
1. Step away from the corner you are about to peek from, drawing your radius "r" from the wall as long as possible.
2. Keeping the crosshair of your AK/M4 rifle approximately head-level, peek the corner with a side strafe.

Example: [Incorrect]
- Too close to the wall
Image

Example: [Correct]
- Radius "r" from the wall is drawn-out as far as possible.

Slicing A Corridor:
- Make sure you cannot see the entrance to the corridor where the enemy will be running through
- Draw-out a radius "r" for a deep angle "slice" to engage oncoming enemies.

Slicing A Corner for a Multi-Kill:
Imagine, from the tip of your AK/M4 barrel, a lethal imaginary line that extends inifinitely across the map. Any enemy that walks into this line of contact is quickly eliminated with a headshot. This should be your mindset when you are slicing all angles on a Counter-Strike map.

The longer the radius "r" is drawn out, the deeper the slice for the angle of contact with the enemy. Many times you will shoot them before they see you.
- Same Steps:
1. Step away from the corner you are about to peek from, drawing your radius "r" from the wall as long as possible.
2. Keeping the crosshair of your AK/M4 rifle approximately head-level, peek the corner with a side strafe.
Example:

Advantages of Slicing The Pie:
The main advantage of Slicing The Pie is keeping the initiative. Campers, for example, have the initiative on a weary, wondering enemy as 1. They can hear footsteps. 2. Their gun is already pointing to where the enemy will wonder pass.
In the same vein, Slicing The Pie allows players to peek corners while keeping the initiative of attacking while in motion. The angle at which you "slice" a corner will often surprise your opponent and you will already be ready to shoot.

[Right = Initiative with Slicing the Pie cornering technique, camper is surprised and gets owned.]

Engaging Multiple Targets: [Isolate + Eliminate]
Step 1. [Peek + Hide]
You peek a corner and notice 2 or more enemies along a corridor. Do not engage. Your first instinct should be to hide.
Step 2. [Isolate + Eliminate]
Using the technique of "Slicing The Pie," slice a deep angle, keeping the initiative, and isolate a single enemy. Engage and eliminate. Rinse and repeat.
